Creamy Biltong Pies

Perfectly crispy dough filled with a creamy Biltong centre that just oozes out goodness.

  • Baking tray
  • Frying Pan
  • Mixing Bowl


  • 1 Red onion finely chopped
  • 50 ml Butter to fry
  • ¼ cup Brown Sugar
  • 10 ml Balsamic vinegar
  • Cheddar Cheese grated
  • 150 g Cream cheese
  • Chopped wet Biltong
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 roll store bought puff pastry


  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees
  • Fry onions in butter till soft add the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar and fry till caramelized.
  • Add the cream cheese and grated cheddar as well as the biltong pieces.
  • Roll out the pastry into rings and fill. Make sure the bottom ring is a tiny bit bigger than the top ring.
  • Brush with egg and prick 3 holes in the top of the pies
  • Bake at 180 till golden brown. (15 minutes)
